Becoming a surrogate not only comes with a lot of joy but also a lot of financial responsibility. With seemingly endless appointments, supplies, travel, and legal requirements, the costs can add up quickly. We know that our surrogates provide a great gift and shouldn’t be left with further financial obligations throughout their journey.

GSHC Surrogacy Agency is here to help make sure all your expenses are reimbursed quickly and efficiently. Here’s a breakdown of what is covered in the reimbursements package. Please make sure to save all your receipts. Unfortunately, if receipts aren’t provided, we will be unable to reimburse you.

What Gets Reimbursed?

  • Housekeeping:
    • Although this comes out of the miscellaneous monthly allowance, surrogates still need to provide receipts for any housekeeping services. You will be reimbursed up to $80 per week and will need to pay for the remainder of the cost over $80.
  • Childcare:
    • Childcare is also covered by the miscellaneous monthly allowance, but receipts are needed for repayment.
  • Medical Expenses:
    • Oftentimes a visit to a healthcare professional will require a small copay or out-of-pocket upfront payment at the time of visit. All copays, lab bills, ultrasounds, and other medical expenses are reimbursed with receipts as well.
  • Pumping Breast Milk (if applicable):
    • The cost of supplies related to pumping breast milk will be reimbursed. This includes items like a pump, storage bags, pads, cream, or special breastfeeding bras. Every case has different needs and we will work with you to cover the cost as long as receipts are provided.

What Costs are Covered Before Legal?

During your pregnancy, payments and disbursements will be made to you from your intended parents’ escrow account. Since your escrow account won’t be set up until after all legal documents are signed and completed, there may be several expenses early on in the surrogacy process. Therefore it’s important to set up a PayPal account to receive payments for the following items during this process.

  • Overnight childcare is covered for up to $100/day
  • Meals are reimbursed for up to $65/day
  • Mileage
  • Pap smears, bloodwork, vaccines, and birth control pills
    • Please note that these reimbursements are given after the medical screening only.

How Payments are Made:

Your intended parents will set up an escrow account and will make regular deposits to make sure all expenses get paid on time. GSHC Surrogacy Agency will help facilitate this process and ensure there is always enough money to cover your costs.

We generally add all of the reimbursement receipts to your base compensation and send them to your escrow account on the 1st of each month. However, if you need payment sooner than the 1st, you can request to have the reimbursement sent to your PayPal account instead.
