Dr. Jia Shen is the founder and CEO of GSHC Surrogacy & Egg Donation — a leader in third-party reproduction with a rare blend of scientific expertise, deep compassion, and an unwavering commitment to educating and supporting families around the world.
Originally trained as a Ph.D. biologist, Dr. Shen completed her graduate education at the prestigious Peking University and Tsinghua University in China, followed by postdoctoral research at UCLA. She later joined the Stanford Ignite Program to further strengthen her foundation in entrepreneurship and leadership. Although her scientific career was thriving, she felt called to serve in a more human, transformative way — helping families overcome the emotional and practical challenges of infertility.
In 2016, Dr. Shen founded GS Healthcare International, which later became GSHC Surrogacy & Egg Donation, marking her transition from scientific research to the heart of family building. What began as a small, mission-driven vision has grown into one of the most trusted and respected agencies in third-party reproduction, supporting families across the United States and around the world. For Dr. Shen, GSHC is far more than a business — it is a purpose-driven organization grounded in ethics, empathy, education, and uncompromising standards of care.
A passionate educator in the assisted reproduction community, Dr. Shen created GSHC Surrogacy School, a comprehensive educational platform designed for both surrogate mothers and intended parents. She also documents her reflections, lessons, and behind-the-scenes experiences through her ongoing series, Founder’s Journey, offering rare transparency into the realities of third-party reproduction. Her ability to translate complex scientific, medical, and legal topics into clear, accessible guidance has helped countless families feel informed, empowered, and understood.
